Your Tarot 'life' card

An excellent place to show there is enormous depth to the cards and that they are showing unconscious patterns and energies is by looking at your life card.

Now this is not to be confused with your birth card, which is a Major Arcana card from all the numbers added up from your date of birth eg, 22/11/1986 = 4+2+6 = 12 = 1+2 = 3 (The Empress) Birth card.

Instead, your life card is derived from the minor arcana cards. Now what is so fascinating about this card is that it shows the ‘theme’ that will work in the background of your life. Interestingly, after working with clients using this card not only, is it is always highly accurate, it shows powerful unconscious patterns that are often holding the client back and need to be addressed within their perception.

Interestingly, and I can only speak about this from my direct experience that the older the client has been, the more awareness they already have of this ‘theme’. That doesn’t necessarily mean they have worked through it, but they know it has been holding them back.

Now before I show you how to see your own ‘life card’ let me give you an example of one using myself first and then a client who shall remain anonymous.

My life card is that of the seven of cups.

For those intuitive among you, you may be able to delve more deeply just from the imagery of those cards alone about some themes in my life, but for now we just will look at this card’s traditional meanings. We see that it represents an abundance of choice, but also lots of fantasy and daydreaming elements. There is a strong intuition and lots of creative ideas going around, but too many for the person to work out what to fix his/her time on. This leads to indecision and lots and lots of procrastination.

If you spoke to anyone close to me including my family members, they would nod their head in agreement and each would comment that it is my procrastination that stops me making such great ideas I have into reality. I also have spent a sizeable chunk of my life with absolutely no idea what to do for my career and would always get itchy feet after only a few years at any fresh job.

How strong this mind pattern can be for me, is that sitting down right now to write this article I have a very strong pull to do ANYTHING but this, and yet this is something I really want to write about!!

However, the more awareness I pour on this pattern of my behaviour and through the years of my continuing mediumistic and psychic development has meant I am much more able to get a handle on this. As this is such a strong patter the better I have got with it, it has meant other mental pattern that I have in my life have become and are becoming much easier to rise above and stay in my awareness. The result of this? I’m much happier with no external events needed to make me happy. That’s how powerful working on your life card can be.

A client I worked with had the eight of cups as their ‘life card’.

Now if we look at the traditional meaning of this card, it is often associated with realising you need to leave a situation as its unbalanced. You are giving much more than what you are receiving, and it has become unhealthy. This could be in a job, a relationship, a friendship, etc.

For my client, this summed up how they approached most relationships in her life and her work. She was self employed, and it was clear she was severely under charging her own clients, especially when compared to her competitors. This was meaning she was having to work twice as hard and still was not even breaking even. This is despite wonderful feedback she was getting about her service. She admitted this was something she often did the past and was always resentful of previous bosses she had, as they never gave her the praise she deserved.

Once she understood this card was pushing her to improve her own self-worth, she began working on that and slowly things changed for the better. Again, the result of this? A happier individual.

So with those two examples in mind, how do we find out our own life card?

As I’m sure you are already familiar with, each suit of the minor arcana comes with one element, and this corresponds to certain astrological signs.

Wands: Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Cups: Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Swords: Air signs (Libra, Aquarius, Gemini)
Disks: Earth Signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo)

The minor cards are then split and categorized further (do not worry about why this is as we base this on astrological factors that are not relevant here).

Twos, Threes, Fours: Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn)
Fives, Sixes, Sevens: Fixed signs (Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus)
Eights, Nines, Tens: Mutable signs (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, Virgo)

So, when you put this together, if, for instance, you are a Leo, then depending on the date your life card is one of Five, Six or Seven of Wands. As Leo is a fixed fire sign. Each minor card represents one decan (period of 10 degrees) of the zodiac and roughly ten days of the year. E.g. 2nd-11th August (10-20 degrees on the zodiac) would be the Six of Wands.

Below is a list of the birth dates that correspond to your ‘life card’. Once you have found this card, remember it is multi-layered, much like when we work with our dreams. There are many more meanings and patterns it will show in your life that are waiting to be discovered.
